Christmas Light

Beloved in Christ,

Advent draws to a close and for the people of God the time of expectation and preparation has been fulfilled. Indeed, for us time itself has been brought to that “One Still Point” in all of history – that point of divine love made flesh and dwelling with us. It draws us to proclaim, “the light shines on in the darkness for the darkness was not able to overcome it.” (St. John 1:5)

In the turmoil of our lives, in the unsettling events of current political crises, and in the world beset and intense with fear, Jesus enters once again as the Babe of Bethlehem to show us the Glory of God. The Christ Child brings not an empty peace, but peace to the very fabric of our being. It is here that we experience the vitality of the Light which radiates from the stable into all times and all places. It is here that transformation takes place through His power in our lives.

During this season of our Savior’s birth, I bid you to pray that we may help direct the light of Jesus into those dark places in the world and in our own lives——-that we might be instruments of His redemption, love and peace. May God bless you with the Christmas Light during this holy season.

I am faithfully yours,

+Bishop Duncan

I will light candles this Christmas.
Candles of joy, despite all the sadness.
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch.
Candles of courage where fear is ever present.
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days.
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens.
Candles of love to inspire all of my living.
Candles that will burn all the year long.
