Open wide the Window of our Spirits

Lent 2019

We will soon be entering the Season of Lent. Lent is not only a time for us personally to look inward as it were “soul searching” but it is also the Church inviting us corporately and collectively as the People of God to introspection and study. It is not meant to be just passive or static. It is calling us into discernment about we are as the Body of Christ and individually as a follower of Jesus Christ.

For me each Lent has usually been a time fo growth. Not always profound but always something I can reflect upon afterwards. At times I realize that it is something I have been thinking about or mulling over “just in the back of my mind.” We all know that “growth” always involves and is punctuated by change; seen or unseen, cursory or sustained.

What are we being called into this year during the Season of Lent?

While clearing out my files I found a prayer I would like to share with you all as members of The Episcopal Community.

“Open wide the WIndow of our Spirits, O Lord, and fill us full of light:

Open wide the door of our hearts, that we may receive and entertain Thee:

With all our powers of adoration and love.” Amen!

Christina Rossetti

May God bless us as we seek to serve Christ and to move forward in faith and grace.

Blessings,
